The Thoma Foundation was honored to serve as lead funder for Jeffrey Gibson: The Body Electric at SITE Santa Fe, an important solo exhibition spanning Gibson’s multi-decade practice. This mid-career exhibition took a deep dive into Gibson’s merging of artistic styles. Historical and contemporary cultural references synergized to create vibrant, multilayered works of art that express the complexities and relationships between injustice, marginalization, and personal identity. Additionally, the Thoma Foundation loaned Over The Rainbow, from a series of Quilt Block Paintings Gibson debuted in 2021. Throughout its run, The Body Electric functioned as a dynamic catalyst for conversation, community gathering, and artistic dialog.
