The Foundation is excited to support the 2017 CURRENTS New Media Festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico. CURRENTS brings together the work of established and emerging new media artists from New Mexico, the U.S. and the world, for events showcasing interactive and fine art video installations, multimedia performances, single channel video, animation, digital dome programs, experimental documentary, web based/app art forms, oculus rift environments, robotics and 3D printing. In its 8th year, the festival runs from June 9 to June 25, 2016.
This year’s CURRENTS festival includes two workshops, artist talks, and an Guest Curator Progam. The first workshop, “Creative Coding for Artists” on June 10, will focus on the numerous emerging technologies that can be applied to the creative practice to enrich creation or generate new ideas. Also on Saturday afternoon, June 10, 6 artists explain how they contextualize their own work and how new media arts expand the lexicon of contemporary art.
The Carl & Marilynn Thoma Art Foundation is proud to support the Guest Curator Exhibition, SV+VS, curated by Yoon C Han. This exhibition explores the cutting edge of visual music by observing diverse approaches from international artists.
