Announcing the Digital Changemaker Grant Funding Cultural Digital Engagement

November 20, 2020

We are pleased to announce a new grant opportunity. The Digital Changemaker Grant will support initiatives that reimagine the use of technology in cultural organizations. Grants will be awarded to small and midsize organizations in Arizona, Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma, or Texas.

Most digital project grants are scaled for larger, well-resourced institutions. Smaller organizations have found it difficult to access funding to pilot efficient initiatives and develop long-term digital strategies. The Digital Changemaker Grant will help smaller cultural organizations integrate digital approaches into overall organizational strategy and meet the increasing demand for digital engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

The Thoma Art Foundation views technology, wisely deployed, as a tool of equity and accessibility, and we encourage  applications from a broad array of cultural organizations, including but not limited to museums, cultural heritage centers, tribal organizations, libraries, and local arts councils.

Five grants of up to $100,000 will support initiatives that incorporate technology to achieve an organization’s mission. Funds can be used for a variety of projects such as curating digital exhibitions, increasing audience engagement, digitizing collections, or improving accessibility to content and services. Successful projects will facilitate learning, incorporate digital and technological best practices, reach a broad public audience, and create a lasting impact on visitors, communities, and the larger digital landscape. Grantees who achieve successful results and demonstrate efficient use of funding will be eligible to renew their grants to receive additional support of up to $100,000.

The Digital Changemaker application portal opens on November 17, 2020.The deadline for application is March 11, 2021. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early applicants will have an advantage.
