The Morris Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate

The Carl & Marilynn Thoma Foundation is proud to be supporting the exhibition Federico Solmi: Joie De Vivre at the Morris Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate in Morristown, NJ. Federico Solmi is a multimedia artist who examines the absurdities of the human experience through the lenses of colonialism, nationalism, religion, and consumerism. This is the first exhibition to explore the artist’s unique process—which combines traditional art practices and digital technologies—through a case study of Solmi’s most ambitious video-painting to date, The Bathhouse (2020). The exhibition will also feature a series of new drawings created for the exhibition, alongside other seminal works from Solmi’s career, including Douche Bag City (2009-10), a multi-channel digital animation from the Collection of the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Foundation.
