Japanese Bamboo |
On view from July 26 – August 24: a solo exhibition at TAI Modern of Tanabe Chikuunsai IV’s bamboo sculptures, both small- and large scale. His free-standing sculptures, made from tiger bamboo and incorporating bamboo roots, share a fluidity and living energy as his massive, sinuous site-specific works. A fourth-generation bamboo artist, the artist’s family name Chikuunsai means “master of the bamboo clouds.”
