Southwest Modern & Contemporary

Georgia O’Keeffe and the Southwestern Still Life explores the ancient land and rich cultural traditions of the Southwest as it was seen by Georgia O’Keeffe and her contemporaries. The installation, currently at the Tacoma Art Museum, provides a fascinating glimpse of the Modernist Southwest through a series of still lifes, or representations of an object or group of objects. The exhibition features more than 50 works, including John Ward Lockwood’s painting, Symbols of Taos, from the Carl and Marilynn Thoma collection. The exhibition will be on view at the Tacoma Art Museum through June 7th.

Georgia O’Keeffe and the Southwestern Still Life will travel next to the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center on June 25th and remain there through September 13th. Beginning October 15th, Georgia O’Keeffe and the Southwestern Still Life will be shown by the Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi until January 3rd, 2016.
