Tell us a little about yourself. What did you do before joining the Thoma Foundation team?
I studied business management in college and from there jumped right in to real estate where I assisted clients in the purchase, development, management, or sale of real property. I simultaneously started my own small business and began organizing large public events. That led me to the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, where I served as their assistant director of development and art show director.
Can you explain a little bit about the work you’ve been doing at TF?
I look at ways we can expand the organization’s reach through gallery space that would be open to the public in geographic areas that are supported by the Foundation’s Grants team.
Do you have a favorite piece of artwork in the collection?
It’s difficult to pick just one piece! I lived in Japan for several years before college and came to love both the country and people. For that reason, I am drawn to the Japanese Bamboo Collection. The intricacies of the weaving and level of skill needed to create these beautiful works of art is mesmerizing.
Where is your favorite place to see art in Fort Worth?
Fort Worth has a robust cultural district with an impressive list of museums and galleries, I could spend hours at any one of them. However, I really love all of the pieces of public art sprinkled throughout the city. Coming across an unexpected mural or sculpture is sure to brighten anyone’s day.
