Kate Brown, Collections Manager
Kate Brown is the Collections Manager at the Thoma Foundation, and is based in Chicago, Illinois. She comes to the Foundation from a Chicago-based fine art appraisal firm where she oversaw all facets of collection management for institutional clients and the company as the Senior Appraisal & Research Assistant. She received her BFA in Integrated Studio Arts with a minor in French from Iowa State University (2008) and her MA in Modern Art History, Theory and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2012).
Mira Burack, Associate Director
Mira Burack is the Associate Director at the Thoma Foundation, and is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She comes to the Foundation from Kresge Arts in Detroit, a program of The Kresge Foundation, where she helped develop and administer the giving of over $2.5 million to artists in Detroit. Mira has held positions at the College for Creative Studies, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Art in America and The Magazine ANTIQUES, as well as other arts organizations and galleries. Mira received a BA from Pepperdine University and a MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Helen Colton, Programs Coordinator
Helen Colton is the Programs Coordinator at the Thoma Foundation, and is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has been involved in the Santa Fe arts community since 2002, focusing her personal and professional efforts on creating interdisciplinary dialogue and community engagement initiatives. She is dedicated to the importance of developing environments in which art discourse becomes a catalyst for critical thinking and personal transformation. Helen received her BA from San Francisco State University in Studio Arts.
Jason Foumberg, Curator
Jason Foumberg is curator of the Thoma Foundation’s art collection, and is based in Chicago, Illinois. He contributes writing about contemporary art to Artforum.com, Photograph, Art Papers, Chicago Magazine and Frieze. He holds a BA in the History of Art and Architecture from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2004), and a MA in Modern Art History, Theory and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2006).
Julia Miglets, Communications and Grants Manager
Julia Miglets is the Communications and Grants Manager at the Thoma Foundation, and is based in Chicago, Illinois. She has held positions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. Julia is also a PhD Candidate in History at Northwestern University and is writing a dissertation entitled “Holy Mediocrity: Sanctity and Sacred Space in Late Medieval Italy.” She holds a BA from Washington and Lee University (2009) and an MA from Northwestern University (2010).
Kathleen Richards, Registrar
Kathleen Richards is the Registrar at the Thoma Foundation and is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Born in Illinois and raised in New Mexico, Kathleen has been active in the Santa Fe art scene since the 1970s, with work included in publication on local artists and printmakers. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts Degrees from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, and has traveled to Spain, Italy and Switzerland for residencies, workshops and exploration. Kathleen makes her permanent home in Santa Fe, where she dedicates herself to family and the fine arts.
